Premier judging appt

Saturday 7th January 2012 I was invited to judge at a unaffiliated show hosted by Premier. My classes were steeplechase combined grades 1-4 and 5-7 and a 1-7 pay on the day pairs, all three heights.

I love big courses watching the dogs gait out was great to see. On the 1-4 the main area that seemed to catch them out was 1-3, those that chose to do a recall and maybe was a little to far out took them to the wrong end of tunnel, or swinging their arm to soon dogs read it as a go round the back of two. Only one dog went 5 to no number tunnel 12. A few over calls at 11 caused a refusal at 12. Had way more than my 10% yay!

My 5-7 had a few more tricky area's the start caused huge problems for ones without a wait, either cutting the handlers up going in the tunnel or handlers flick arm and dogs took no7. Most run through 5 and FC and RC no7. No 9 was mainly FC with some doing RC at no11, a couple of large big jumping dogs bounced no14- no17, no16 most pivot turned, a couple picked up on a fc and rc no 17. Controlled the turn nicely but then seemed to loose a little drive home as 17 was so far away, let go to soon they sent them back in the tunnel.

Smalls and Mediums handlers cried for oxygen at the end, as did some of the large dog handlers in both courses, the dogs that had the natural attack for the course's were just amazing to watch over the spread out distances.

Pairs was great fun, Really enjoyed my day, great show, great venue. Thanks to all involved and a huge thanks to all that helped on my ring. Lisa

Can not believe Chi has lost his life so young, he would have been five on the 5th December. Diagnosed with tumour which was removed but they found another that was unable to be operated on, he was given rest at the vets. Margaret and David are in my thoughts at this very sad time. You gave him such a wonderful life. He is now at rainbow bridge, probably still doing agility at 100mph, his mother Dollar watching from the sidelines with friends.

We are really enjoying our foundation training with Leah at http://www.anjuagility.co.uk/ we have a great group of pups, my next training day can't come quick enough.
Dec has mastered the four paws in the box to help with balance and co-ordination.
He is a very quick learner, loves to please. I am not playing tuggy as he is losing teeth, he loves treats which is great. Our other progress is he is no longer in his crate at night, although jumping on our heads a 5am needs some work lol!

I am really pleased my little girl she has won into grade 6 at Suffolk Five Rivers. She seems to be back on top form. Just to prove it was not a fluke she won her last ever grade 5 agility and second in jumping at the Norfolk show :-)

My courses Stour Valley Sept 2011

I really enjoyed my judging, I always get so nervous about putting courses together, I like to see them flow but test the partnership of handler and dog, without all the twisting up their own backside! Maybe because I run big Belgians. I did not want to keep rebuilding course's, as you can see nothing moved apart from the numbers, until the trio team I moved a few things including the timing gate and took out the weaves as it was a fun class for all.
My large 5-7 One competitor chose to jump the tunnel number 5, and another went through the weaves but was already eliminated!
Some stunning handling was great to watch. The dogs seem to love the fast and open course.

This is my puppy Dec he is now 4 months. Lovely boy, very keen to play, bags of energy, a pleasure to share our house with. Great temperment with people, dogs and children. Doing very well at his trick and obedience training. Picture taken by Alan Score

So proud that Quest with Sian won a jumping and an agility at Tuffley show, Chi with Margaret had an unlucky failed timing on a good jumping run at a different show, in the re-run sadly took poles. But later in the day they won a 1-7 agility taking them both into grade 5 a week apart. They really are both maturing into good partnerships. Hugs to both xx

I have been to a show every weekend, Meme is holding her own in grade 5 even has a 3rd place trophy in jumping. Cruz has been much better with his approach to the DW but now has decided to stride the down contact!!!!!BUT i'm happy with his confidence and i'm sure with rubber surface being hired by many shows it has helped him alot. I hope it becomes a thing of the past running over gloss paint. I have now changed my blog name, I have somebody to show you all next week. :-) can't wait.

Eastbourne DTC

It was very strange going to Eastbourne with all my dogs, but only competing with Cruz. Meme had won into Grade 5 and missed this 1-4 show by two days. Cruz worked brilliantly, only a pole in his jumping and a see saw 5 in his agility. He went clear in this truly fun helter-skelter and ended up 4th out of 298 dogs. My husband pointed out I'm only running around in a circle! but this course was clever and did get many handlers E's. The first circle was inside the second was outside, the third was a half circle, great fun to run. I also ran a friends collie in this class who was doing stunning run until my shorts decided they would look better down at my knees, not pleasant for people lol! in between queuing the dog and holding my dignity I lost her on the last pull off over an off course jump, totally my shorts fault, hehe but dignity kept.

Caroline and I set off on Thursday, We arrived after lunch and set up our camping area with a nice size garden for the dogs. Helped set up the rings and then put out Caroline's course for the Friday.

FRIDAY: It was really strange to not start till the afternoon, we got up in the morning fed the dogs, had showers, breakfast and then walked the dogs, put the numbers on her course went to a lovely sit down buffet lunch for the judge, ring manger (me) and scrime sue. Walked the dogs again just before the show was up and running, downside of starting late was to get through

285 dogs over 3 course changes and 7 height changes, with walking allowed between. :-(

A few dogs holding up the ring choosing to use it as their toilet ahhhhh!!! also as it was so hot instead of starting to get ready for the line while the dog in front is on the course, they waited, walked into the ring, take off their sun glasses, dogs cooler coat, lead, all while the poor judge is standing waiting? bring in a whistle with a time ltd hehe...We were all very tired that night.

My little dogs did me proud Meme 4th in agility and 3rd in jumping, Cruz 4th in jumping.

Saturday: I was seeing in Car's for the day parking. Well done to most who stuck to 5mph. Come on you offenders 5 mph is for safety reasons, can't believe a caravan was faster than poor Michelle on her bike who was having a job to keep up with him, (he clearly did not see her) she told him to slow down and that she had a job to catch him, get this... his answer to her was your on a bike??????? 5MPH is WALKING SPEED!!!!!!! moan over....

Another really hot day, now up to 6 rings. Had a few courses to walk. Meme came 4th in agility and clear round in jumping, Cruz 1st in the ABC 1-4 com jumping wahoo he set off like a rocket it was a very fast flowing course just what he needed, Meme was faster over the same course but had a pole down as you can see in the picture. Thank you Alan Score for the brilliant pictures

Onto Sunday:

Another tiring early start, first up to run was a very tricky 4-5 jumping course, I really enjoyed the challenge of it, was really pleased as Meme came 1st she worked stunning. Cruz our bungee broke and I lost him out of the tunnel over an off course jump but really pleased with his gear shift up.

I also had our ABC Q, sadly I did not go clear but was really chuffed how all three worked, Kane I lost over a jump after getting all his contacts! Meme and Cruz have showed me more training is needed on a weave entry. The last class of the day was G 4 agility I walked the course then went and worked on score boarding on another ring, Cruz was up to run he did it really well as you know I struggle with him sometimes with a dog walk, think its really helping as again at this show was rubber contacts, he zoomed over with no hesitation into 5th place, they are now calling to the end of the class, Caroline kindly queued while I went to collect Meme, by now most of the rings were packed away which I could make use of the ground around to warm her up put still watch the course.

I knew I wanted to push Meme round and boy did she work her little legs of, we WON taking over 2 seconds of the 2nd place. My little girl is now grade 5, as strange as it sounds it still feels better winning the two to move up.

Result summary:

Meme 2 x 1st, 3rd, 2x 4th and 5x BEST BSD in the class.

Cruz 1st, 4th and 6th 2x BEST BSD in the class

Felt a bit like a headless chicken at this show with working, running the dogs, looking after a very pregnant Wish and trying to keep Inca fit but quiet. All in all had a fab time and well done to all my friends who did well at the show. Back home at 10pm knackered.

Firstly Happy 15th Birthday to Sunniday agility club, the two fabulous cakes were made by Phillipa and Lin. Lin and her team put on a club show, followed by club presentations for the 2010 season. I helped in the morning and got to run Kane, Meme and Cruz in the steeple chase in the afternoon. Kane came 1st and Meme 3rd not far off her dads time :-)

The sun was out, the day was just brilliant.

I was reduced to tears when Lin called Inca's name for best grade 5-6 dog, his last rosette.... More tears with Wish winning the best small dog.

The following weekend it was my first camping KC show Spring @ Shuttleworth, hosted by the BSDA of GB, as a member of the BSDA Caroline and I arrived on Thursday to help with behind the scenes, not sure people realize how much work goes into these shows for their blast around a course with their pooches.

I was very tired Friday night, the show had 11 rings to be built, I was ring manger all day on Saturday, what really gets to me is the number of people who put their name down to help to get better camping and they never show their face at the ring. So pleased for friends who was not down to help, but put in the work just to keep the ring running, u know who u are THANKS.

My results for the weekend.

Kane won the combined 1-7 BSD agility class, 4th in the ABC 1-7 agility

Meme handled by Tanya King 2nd in the BSD 1-7 jumping

Cruz 2nd grade 4 jumping, 9th G4 agility, 10th ABC 1-7 Helter skelter and 11th ABC 1-7 agility.

Kane was also presented with best BSD runner up for 2010 show.

My sweet princess Dollar is now at rainbow bridge.

She started being sick on and off from about Sept last year, we were at the vets many times. She was given stomach lining fluids which seemed to help her cope with what ever was going on. I changed her diet back to raw meat to remove all wheat from her system in case it was this.

This last month she began to change in herself, not wanting to go for our usual walks, lack of appetite, her coat looked different and her breath was very bad. Back to the vets again we went, she had lost a little weight but not to much to be concerned about. We had full bloods done which mostly came back normal apart from protein which was a little low.

I thought she may have some foreign body in her stomach as she did vomit up an old latex toy/glove in August.

The vet and I decided the next stage would be to have Xrays and scans to see if anything would show up. She was supposed to come home the same night but had a very bad turn for the worse had to stay in over night, she looked so weak, what was taking the life out my little girl? this was all I could think that night.

On the Xrays and scans showed a thickening in her stomach and intestine, it was decided as she was stronger after her night on the drip my vet opened her up to see what was going on and take biopsies from four areas. She came round well from the operation, the vet called us to collect her at 7pm that night, but after we arrived and she greeted us she collapsed on my lap, again she went rapidly down hill. I thought she was gone at one point, its was awful to see her in this way, but we had to give her a chance, again she stayed in on a drip overnight.

The next morning my vet rang to say after his initial fright that she looked like she had gone, she stood up and looked for breakfast.

I collected her later that day, medicines and special high cal food. That night was very bad she kept crying out, I questioned myself, what I have put her through but then thought what if its nothing much and is found to be treatable. The vet had already said he was unable to remove this affected part as it was so low down in the stomach.

We had a five day wait for the results, bless her she had to have her back feet bandaged as she was ripping at her wound, I had to syringe food into her month as she just did not want to eat. She would go into the garden and just stare. My heart was aching so much, what do I do, do I wait, do I already really know the out come is not good, but I was hoping that I was wrong. I did struggle to watch my little princess fade before my eyes. She seemed not to have any fight for what was going on with her.

The results came on Wednesday, Gastric Carcinoma in three out of the four areas. Vet confirmed it would be days.

I needed to digest this before I could make the only decision that knew had to be made, I said I would ring that afternoon.

I removed her pink badges from her back feet, put all the dogs in the van with her and went for our last outing together. She was so weak, we only manged a little plod, but the sky was blue, the sun was shinning, the birds were singing, I knew it was time to let her find peace and be out of pain.

Having seen my sister die so slowly over several weeks, giving an animal rest always seems to give me comfort knowing that that animal is no longer suffering, it is the last kind thing I can do.

I will still questioned myself was it right what she went through, but know she is at peace now.

My special little rescue boy. Hurrikane Inca

In September 2010 Inca was laying in his usual position on the sofa, up side down with his legs resting up the back of the sofa. My husband returned home from work, this is when it happened Inca spun himself over to face the right way screaming out in pain for a second. I checked him all over and thought he may have caught a toe on the back of the sofa, he had now returned to normal. Phew! I with drew him from the ABC semi final in case he was still not right as this happened on the Wednesday and the semi was that weekend.
About a month later this happened again after resting after a long walk. This time my vet was able to see him in pain. He gave him an injection with a dose rate of once a week for a month. He also had a Chirio check up/treatment.
I brought him a Back on Track coat, I used a warm wheat bag with lavender to sooth him.
Again he returned to normal. He has had the winter off from agility, no training, just being his mad self on walks.
Last week, the same thing happened after exercise which he has every day (not sure why it only happens sometimes) he stood in the middle of the room screaming in pain, my vet see him straight away, gave him pain relief, anti inflammatory, muscle relaxer. He soon calmed down, he rested comfortable in our bedroom for the night.
My vet referred him for an MRI scan, which he had on Thursday. The consultation the day before they was discussing possible tumour on the nerve endings which would result in Major surgery and possible amputation. I was so scared I felt sick in the waiting room, I would not leave the clinic I waited 5 hours for my little boy to come back to me.
The news is still not brilliant but better than they were saying.

He has been diagnosed with Spinal compression in his neck :-(

I'm in shock as he is only 7 years of age and has shown NO symptoms whilst at agility or before the sofa episode.
Although now retired, he has given 7 great years and has taught me so much in this game. He will continue to teach me things and he will be a very happy contented pet dog, he loves camping and going to new places.
I only hope I can keep him as pain free as possible without affecting his quality of life.
I pray I have another happy 7 years with you Inca. x

I can not believe dollar
is 4!!! I remember the day I came to look at the litter, and ended up
going home with this beautiful bundle of fluff.
He is such a crazy dog and makes me laugh every day.

Definitely a one off i think!!

Dollar is really well at the moment, and I really want next year to be our year.
He has improved so much, but still has a lot of those mad moments as

Lovely walk in Lullingstone park

Caroline rang me in the morning to see if we could meet for a walk with the dogs, I have never been to Lullingstone before but Caroline has a while back. On the way up Caroline collected her daughters four collies, our walk would have 6 collies, 7 Belgians and a noisy sheltie. I was late as I drove past the venue thinking it was a building site until I see Caroline at the entrance. You pay to park in the car park £1.20 I think. We put our dogs on leads for the first narrow path which then opened out onto a huge field, they could all let of steam GREAT :-) we walk up through the field into the woods, they all found this soooo exciting, you then go over one of the golf clubs fairways.

Caroline is in the distance putting the waste into the bin provided, all her dogs were in a down stay to respect the golfers that were playing on the green, then all of a sudden they broke lol I bet they needed the dog bin after this lot ran towards them lol. They were not upset as they could see they were very well controlled really! honest! hehe

The final part of our walk drops down through more woods and fields, with the Castle in the distance. We arrived back to the vans, gave the dogs a drink and left them to settle while we went into the visitors centre for Jacket potato lunch and a pot of tea. Loved it, great walk, great company, really good day :-)

Boy did I get wet that afternoon at work, I have since been out and brought new waterproof walking boots, new over trousers and have a new hat, the only thing with a leak now is my bank account :-(

Caroline, Sue and I headed off to Norfolk very early hours Saturday morning. This show has the first ABC qualifier for 2011, well done Grace and Kiah for winning. Inca sadly had a pole time would have been good enough :-(. Sue with her two Belgian Tervs, Jag and Jinx both did fab runs to finish up 6th & 7th. Then Jinx went onto win grade 4 jumping. :-)

Meme sadly has gone very hormonal again, but now has thankfully had her season she is on Agnus Castus, Raspberry leaf and Evening Primrose, I want my mad girlie back. I'll help her any way I can, I also brought her a Back on Track coat which she seems to like. Bitches!
Talking of Bitches little Wish has lost her weaving ability? not sure why, her entries are spot on but then she seems to lose her rhythm and pops out or will miss a pole, I have seen indoors huge holes either side of the weaves and wondered if this may not be helping. More training needed back to basics for a while.
Cruz has become very consistent again getting many top places, really pleased with how he is performing.
Saturday night we had booked a lovely Bunk house to stay, which was only about 20 minutes from the venue. What was really great is that it was very close to a closed air field which is where we walked the dogs that evening and Sunday morning before breakfast. Back to the show on Sunday the weather was very kind to us right up till just after lunch when it started to rain and get very windy, Cruz and Meme got a few more place's.

All my dogs love to help themselfs to Blackberries, they will spend ages going in and out the hedges sniffing out the nice ripe ones. Meme could not reach her find so she rested her front legs on Kane's back. Wish is very clever she has the fallen ones that they drop. They have now taught my friends 10 year poodle how to eat them lol.

Where to start: We had great success at the Burnham show, the ABC agility was won by Wilf, 2nd Inca, 3rd Kane and 4th was Cruz. Stour Valley: We had decided not to camp, Caroline kindly allowed me to stay at hers, we met up on the Friday and took all the dogs to the beach for a good couple of hours, they had amazing fun running in and out of the waves, we walked over the top of the sea wall to go back along the marshes where they could dry off.

at the semi final doing a lovely clear, it was wrong end of the tunnel after a straight line, just took to much power off to get the correct end costing him the all important time.

I was chuffed to have two in the semi's Inca and Cruz. On the Thursday before Inca was lying in his usual position sleeping upside down on the sofa, when he then rolled over to his side and screamed out? I thought he caught a leg in the back, but no, when he got off he seemed to be favouring his neck, I have a very good chiro who kindly offered to see him straight away and again on Friday morning, he is now wearing a magnetic collar and a Back on Track coat. I was gutted to pull him out, these things happen. I would never run any of my dogs knowingly unfit. He does seem alot better, I have a brilliant healer friend working on him and when he lays still I do my Reiki on him which he loves. I just want him back fit and happy :-)

Last week mine were having a good old belly full and when I looked round Meme had her front paws on Kanes back to reach the high ones. A caravan: we had our first show at DINAS in our new edition, I was very nervous at towing this at first but now ok. I love the shower it has and the added bonus of a motor mover. Its seems a shame two more camps then away for storage.

Had a brilliant time at Dogs in need agility show, all my dogs got a place. Kane 3rd in an ABC agility, Inca 3rd and 4th putting him in the final where he finished 2nd.

Hi Lisa,

I have had a series of injuries which stop me running my dogs to their best. Chi fares better because he works remote control most of the time anyway but Voe spins or barks at me to hurry up. Chi has had so many good runs recently but always with a pole down. He has a fan club in Scotland and so many comments about his ability but he can be strong willed and can do as he thinks ie he loves pull throughs so much that a simple out and back over the next jump is too boring for him!

His trophy from Granite City is a photo frame and I was trying to find a good photo for it. I hope you can see him in action.

I have been to a few shows over the last couple of weekends all my boys and girls coming away with rosettes, Wish got a third in 1-3 jumping a nice medal. Cruz has qualified the ABC semi final along with Inca. Still have a few more attempts to get Kane and Meme in.
Meme is nearly back to her normal self after suffering with a hormone imbalance.
I'm still suffering with very painful Achilles, I got sooo depressed not be able to run my dogs this weekend just gone, grateful my friends enjoyed running my dogs and they enjoyed running for them, apart from my mummy's boy Cruz.

I have had a full leg massage with Andy Hudson who's has done wonders with the muscles in my legs, I highly recommend it.
I am now wearing my in soles and doing the stretches he showed me. Just need to look for some trainers that don't press on my Achilles.
I'm off to Norfolk tomorrow looking fwd to a nice chilled show :-)

For those who where unable to get a place at this years Boot camp with Nancy and Leah. It was horrible don't bother applying next year. ;-)

At 5 o clock the crows start squawking, as the sun rises up across the valley hills, time to get up to feed the dogs, allowing plenty of time before 2 1/2 hours of mind blowing training, with the sun beating your white skin brown.

If you were not on the clinics you had some time off to walk the dogs through the cross country course, bluebells whipping your now brown legs, if that's not enough to put you off, my dogs found the water jump and had great pleasure in cooling themselves off running backwards and forwards in the muddy water. lol

If not to knackered from five hours of training, dinner and games night in the club house :-)

The training was so bad Grace with Kiah went out and won grade 5 jumping at BATs, not sure a pivot was executed thou LOL, all mine got a clear round or place in their classes.

So there you have it.

I really hope to try and go again next year, just to see if they improve. ;-) hehe

Wish agility show results

Thank you Alex for this stunning picture of my little girlie.

Sorry to all who have been checking in to see how Wish has done at her first show, I have been so busy the blog got a little neglected.

Any way back to Wish, she really has lived up to her name and has been a star.

All my concerns about not entering Mid-downs because it is a big show, indoors, very loud maybe hard for her to for cope with, well Easter show was moved into the same building due to ground conditions. I chose to run and see how she got on. I was sooooo excited to find out she came 4th in agility and 4th in jumping, totally focused and ran a dream.

The next few show where outside, to my shock this is where she came a little unsure, slowing up, looking about but still gaining clear rounds. Maybe because the shear size of the courses (somebody told me courses where built for smalls, how wrong that information was) :-)

This weekend she seems to be back on form, at Colchester show she got

2nd in com 1-3 agility her first trophy in pride of place, Vyne 5th in com 3-4 agility the top four places where grade 4 dogs. She has now got her 50 Agility points towards her bronze warrant. I really would like her to stay in grade 3 for a while as we are learning alot together in the rings.

Hi Lisa,

Time has passed, not so much agility training due to the bad winter, but here we go again for a new season. Chi started the way he finished a total idiot at the Easter show. This weekend he started the Saturday with one pole down during a good round. On the next course he had a major spin but ended up 7th.

Grade 3 jumping he won the class!

Today he had two good runs but poles came down, we could definitely see a big difference in his attitude except for one course when he got a bit high and I removed him from the ring much to his disgust.

He is a wonderful dog to have in our home, so full of character and willing to please, the long journey down to fetch him was more than worth the effort.

We hope you are all well and ready for lots of agility.

My little girlie has her first show coming up, I'm really excited but feel so incredible nervous!

I have had a small dog (Lowchen) before but health problems meant he was unable to train in agility.

Wish could have done Mid-Downs as she is over 18 months but I felt its such a noisy venue I'll wait till the shows go outside.

I must now get my head around listening for small class announcement's as well as grade 4 and grade 6 large classes. I'm glad Meme won into G4 as that would have been another course lol!

Inca and I where invited to take part in the Rescue Dog agility again, He was brilliant, coped really well with the surface. This is a picture of the Woodgreen Rescue dogs team.

Had another really good training day with Nancy, Nancy always builds lovely large course's more true to what we see abroad, which is great to work on. As Meme is being a lady dog I was asked not to run her, I would have like too as it was a jumping only training session. I'll hopefully will be able to put up some of the sections to improve myself on and see how my others work.

This time I ran Kane, the course when I walked it/spy ed it on paper, (well it was next to me) ;-) I gulped!! a few of the sections I was turning over in my head, how the hell am I going to do that, but as it was it ran really nice, I was so proud of Kane I trusted him to do his job, we finished on a clear round. :-) see video

I can see my areas for improvement and understand alot more after watching myself on video what Nancy was trying so patiently to get across to me. Thank you Nancy, Bring on the next one can't wait.

The blue sky, white fields were enough for me to brave 6 dogs on leads for a walk/slide across the snowy hills. We were out over two hours, playing find the tennis ball, catch the snow ball, we all had a great time, only Dollar started to get fed up with the snow balls that were growing in size on her knickers and in her paws. We came back to a nice warm house, they each had a chew stick while I thawed out with a hot choc drink. I hope to do the same tomorrow.

I'm so pleased how my little girlie ran, this is her first time taking part at a show. Fab send on to the tunnel, (thanks Lin @ http://sunniday.co.uk/ )

I know I lost her up the DW, yes my fault. Still need more work at the weaves, but what I did notice is that the large dogs leave big holes either side of the weaves, I think this maybe why Wish could not get her rhythm in them. She is still not driving to the end of the see-saw like I would like, but she went on it confidently. All in all I think a promising start. We still have loads to work on, she won't be at KC shows till April time. Just need the weather to improve to get some much needed training going again.

I still have no van. :-(

My boss and I had entered the Active Pawz show on 3rd January. He kindly offered me a lift with my dogs in his van. Really pleased to be able to go out and have some fun with my dogs. The weather was very cold but for a change we did not have that cutting wind.

We had 2 agility runs over the same course, combined 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, you could run or train your 60 secs in the ring your best score counted.

Cruz did a lovely clear and finished 4th in 4-5 combined,

Meme finished just behind him 5th taking 2 seconds off her trained clear round.

The jumping run, sadly I did not get Meme's run on video she finished 2nd, Cruz I pushed into the wrong weave entry taking an E, he was running so well I did not go back. Inca just knocked a wing on a turn.

We finished the day with a steeplechase run, this was a lovely fast flowing course, Meme came 2nd and Cruz 3rd.

The weather had now taken a turn for the worse, it was snowing hard and settling over the car-park as Peter was driving we decided to head for home. Thank you Peter for taking me and the dogs. Great show.

Its was good to see out the end of 2009 with a bang!! but it was a shame it was my van's cam belt that caused the BANG :-(
On the upside I did not have to drive on New years eve to our friends house, as I'm not insured hehe......... Poor hubby had to drive.
I am still vanless until they fix the damage, its amazing how much stuff you store in your van that you miss when it is not with you.

Hey lisa,
have to tell you this story....

My dog training classes are held in a church hall. Anyway Cash never liked the hall, he would only go into half the area and refused to go near the stage area or the bottom end of the hall to the extent that i gave up training him during the class as he wouldn't do anything at the other end of the hall. He would become frantic and panic to get away from it. Typical belgian carry on ...or so i thought.
In the summer we were moved into the main body of the church to train as the hall was being demolished to build a new one. Cash was happy about this no problem in the main church.
So the minister came in last week to say the build had been held up. The hall was on a burial ground - which they knew - but they discovered a skeleton while putting in the new foundations - you guessed it- where the stage area was. It has been assumed it was a pauper as the body was not in a coffin but had been put on top of the coffins already there , apparently this was commomplace a long time ago. How spooky is that???? Cash the body detector!! It's totally freaked everyone out as there was always the odd dog who didn't like that area (including my last belgian) and we used to joke there was a body under the stage but put it down to maybe rats or something.

Hope the weather is being better for you. It has been awful up here pouring with rain constantly, gale force winds. There has been loads of flooding but fortunately nothing like cumbria. The roof is leaking in our staff dog room at work so all the dogs are loose in the laundry area which they love but it's a nightmare trying to put a washing on with up to 10 dogs jumping about you!!!

Clever Cash passed his silver good citizen last week, didn't think he could be mature enough but he surprised me. We're going for gold in March!
Agility training is going ok, we have been practising baby stuff during mainstream training and it seems to be working. Have started to train my mum's pup since she's not going to run her. I thought she would be pathetic about it but she loves it. She is very fast, turns on a sixpence. Logan my big lurcher has finally retired from agility. I am gutted as he is only 4. But he has always had a lameness problem which we can't find a reason for despite x-rays and mri scans. He is going back to the pain clinic at Glasgow University next week so hopefully they can sort him. It's a real shame as he is a very gentle dog but when he is sore he doesn't want anyone near him, snaps at the other dogs . The agility has always been a bonus but i feel there is obviously something wrong and even though he loves it , it's not fair to ask him to do it.If i can get my happy dog back , i'll settle for that. Hate it when they can't tell you what's wrong and he's such a big softie.
Reckon you could cut cash's legs off and he'd still find a way to get round an agility course!!!lol

Zindelijk Lucky Chi

Hi Lisa,

We hope you are all well as we are. It seems like no time at all since we collected Chi but on the other hand he has certainly made an impression on us. He is a full on dog, full of life always willing to take part in anything that is happening but also a very easy to train and handle dog except at agility. He is a see it do it hound and he sees a course a little differently to me but my back problem this summer did not help. Thank goodness I am getting a bit better.

He has had a few nearly right courses, he now completes the weave with entries worthy of grade 7 and touch points to die for but his enthusiasm at the start is his downfall although perfect in training. We went to a fun show last weekend, he broke the first stay and the second but managed the third and won the fourth class with a superb round of agility.. He is always better at agility, too many jumps seems to excite him.

David is sending you a photo of Chi in action plus if you have time go onto http://www.equiscot.com/ . In the Gleniffer dog section Chi is on page 33 DSC 9451, 9452 and 9453.

The bond between us is so strong, he adapts his behaviour to my commands. He can be unsure of other dogs but a happy go speak and he
immediately relaxes makes initial contact and then turns to me for a treat, which I am only too willing to give. After that he plays really well.
He is the second dog in my life to make this bond, it is so special.

Chi and Dino are great pals, I am sure that Chi keeps Dino going. He will be 12 on Christmas day and loves to play with his young friend.

Fingers crossed I hope Chi will get himself together next year, everyone says great potential.

My weekend news

Saturday I decided to be brave, even after hearing all the horrendous weather warnings that were forecast, it would have been very easy to stay in, but I drove myself and the K9s to the North downs show. It was a scary drive as bits of trees where littering the lanes, the rain was very heavy, I see three accidents on the motorway, but it seemed to look a little bit brighter a head, (praying)! so apart from the strong winds and the heavy showers, it was brighter than at home as Neil my hubby rang me to make sure I had arrived safely, as he had just been in a very bad thunder storm that chucked down hail stones that turned the garden white for a short time.
Back to the show, I really enjoy this show and venue is great, although indoors we still have nice size courses to run.
Meme gained 12th in combined 4-5 jumping and clear in combined 4-5 agility 100% for her. Cruz did a brilliant run in the combined 4-5 jumping and finished 6th. This was a class that over 22 seconds and you were out the placings. Messed up my others in the grade 6-7 classes. Lots of winter training for us.

Sunday Angela and I headed off to Discover Dogs at Earls Court, Inca was on the Groenendael stand and also representing Woodgreen animal shelter in the Rescue Dog Agility Display.
I took Wish along for company, she loves all the fuss. Both dogs were really good, now sound a sleep as its very tiring for them to look beautiful and Handsome and be star's all day long.

Fci training with Nancy Hudson

Today I went to a Fci training afternoon with Meme, Nancy put up two very good courses that tested our partnership, on this video my handling error gave us 5 faults at number (8), but really pleased how my little girlie ran.

The video is of course two, see plan right to best of my knowledge.

Sorry about the quality, poor Grace got the job to video, Kiah was not impressed it was not her go.

Below is course 1, this is the course that after we all run it was broken down into sections, we trained areas of the course. Firstly we worked on shaping our dogs over 3 to give our dogs a more natural curved line also taking there line away from tunnel (12) this gave a good line then for the tunnel (5) under the A frame, we trusted our shaping over 4 and started queuing the tunnel command without going to all the way to the entrance, if you did go to the tunnel it left you know where to help your dog over 6. Then we aimed at training layering the tunnel (12) for the weaves off the A frame, this gave you an advantage to work a lovely turn off the see saw and onto 11, several ways were used 13-14, I chose to go in the middle and call her to me which worked lovely, I also pushed her around the back of the left wing of 13 then pushed in 14 then called through the middle with me turning so she came in on my left to pick up 15.

Wish & Klaus and the little tri is Trouble with Sophie

Today I was kindly invited to Pachesham agility club run by Eleanor Balchin, to take part in a puppy sheltie training day with Wishes relations, Heidi ran Klaus & Sophie ran Trouble (Wishes Brother's). Sadly Aaron with Lola the sister was not well enough to attend. Linda ran Rocky who is a half brother.

I am really pleased with how Wish is coming on, just have to sort out my timing with running a small dog for the first time. On the jumping sequence you can see me attempt to collect her then I assume I have got her, I look up and run onto the next bit, without working her over the fence, she did all what I asked of her so I carried on not wanting her to pick up on my handling error. The next time we did it, I paused collected her and clicked her for coming into my collecting hand, then sent over the jump into the tunnel. Clever girlie.

Lovely walk with Angela and all the pooches

We met up and went for a 3 mile walk around Shoreham woods with the dogs. You park in a lovely wooded area, next to the rangers hut, we picked up the map leaflets from outside, you have a choice of 1-3-or 4 mile. We walked the dogs across the bridge over the A21/M25.
The walk starts of in a short wood which then opens up to meadow land, the dogs where running around mad with all the new scents, oh! and lots of free bunny beans. ewwwww!

You then come to this which takes you in to a large wooded area,

Then along the bottom of the valley.

Back into the woods, faced with the mother of all hills to climb with Large railway sleeper steps to go up.............

we made it to the top, to only go back down the other side LOL, we ended up back in the first field which we then knew our way back.

Great walk, weather was lovely, amazinly we only met one other dog, :-)

Nice picnic areas dotted about, would be great in the warmer weather.

B&B at Norfolk

After the monsoon last October in a trailer tent, Caroline and I decided that we would treat our self at the end of the year to a night in B&B rather than risk it again. Really glad we did as the wind this time was very very strong Friday night and all day Saturday.

The start of our weekend: I drop call Caroline on her mobile (yes she has one but it is always off) !! she only turns it on to get my drop call when I pay at the toll, this works really well normally, but this time I get "unable to connect you" try later....... :-( OMG what now I was thinking that Caroline had arrived early and was in a out of signal area not knowing I was going into the tunnel. I tried and tried and tried but same thing, I was now on the M11 when thankfully she flashed her lights to let me know she had caught up. Tip for the day: Charge your mobile battery before long journey's! LOL

The showground was really nice, two rings inside, three rings outside sadly lacking grass as it has been so dry, it was a bit bumpy to run on, the show organisers had done a really good job filling in some holes.
Onto the B&B Saturday night: I done the postcode on TomTom which thankfully took us straight to the door in just over 10 minutes. We had already walked the dogs so we fed them in the van while we signed in with the land lady Dawn. Dawn showed us to our room and recommended the Pub across the road for an evening meal, we arranged with her to have breakfast at 7:15am on Sunday. After a quick freshen up we headed for Dinner which was lovely and very reasonably priced.

Sunday: We got up and fed the dogs at 5:30am so we could leave them before their walk, then had a nice cup of Tea in our room. The walk that Dawn suggested to us was next door, you just went through the gate and kept walking and walking, the moon was still out when we went out, the sun was coming up as we walked back, the dogs had a fab time.

As we settled the dogs back in the vans, Dawn asked fried or poached eggs with your full English, what a way to start the day all washed down with fresh coffee or a pot of Tea.

Thank you Dawn for a great stay. Hope the show goes a head again next year as we will definitely be back.

Inca is a star @ Norfolk

He not only qualified the ABC semi 2010. He won grade 6 jumping at the Norfolk show making him 1/4 advanced/grade 7, I could not believe that he stayed in first place.

Meme held her own in her first taste of grade 4, sadly the ground was just like concrete with no grass to be seen, she seemed to run a little careful gaining many clear rounds. It was a nice change to walk only two grade courses.

Wish was measured last weekend and has had her record book all signed, I am really pleased to have her measured into small with her sister Lola and brother Trouble, but Klaus bless him is medium, well a least he will fit in with the other blue Merle's in that height. LOL

Thank you Alan Score for the video of our run in the 4-7 combined jumping, he was a good boy, the course had a lot of angles on the jumps, the weaves were to the corner of the ring, I ran wide to help with the angle back across the course, I was really pleased he stayed in the weaves. The run was clear but the video does show up my late handling cues, :-( (Sorry Cruz)

After three weeks of being a lady and a flirt, it was time to bath her and bring normality in to the Jordan household. I have really missed her a the last few shows, kind hubby looked after the girls, something so small and loud can sure leave a gap!
